Jović Fires AC Milan into Italian Cup Final

Jović Brace Sends AC Milan into Italian Cup Final with Dominant Derby Win

Luka Jović fired AC Milan into the final of the Italian Cup on Wednesday night, netting a brace in a commanding 3-0 derby victory over Inter Milan that secured a 4-1 aggregate triumph.

The Serbian striker, making a rare start, doubled his goal tally for the season and gave Milan fans a rare moment of joy in an otherwise disappointing campaign. Tijjani Reijnders added a late third to seal the win and underline Milan’s dominance over their local rivals this season.

Jović opened the scoring in the 38th minute, powering home a header from Alex Jimenez’s cross with Milan's first real opportunity. Inter had threatened early—Federico Dimarco hit the bar and Lautaro Martínez squandered a golden chance—but Jović's opener shifted momentum.

Just minutes after the restart, Jović struck again, reacting quickly to poke home from close range after Inter failed to clear a routine corner. The second goal prompted a flurry of substitutions from Simone Inzaghi, but none were able to change the tide.

Reijnders capped off the performance with five minutes remaining, finishing coolly after a slick pass from Rafael Leão.

The result not only ends Inter's hopes of replicating their 2010 treble under José Mourinho but also marks Milan’s fifth unbeaten derby this season, including a win in January's Super Cup final.

Coach Sergio Conceição praised Jović post-match:
“He’s been working really hard these last few weeks and has even lost a bit of weight. He gives us something different up front, and today he showed that.”

Despite sitting ninth in Serie A and likely to miss out on Champions League qualification, Milan now have a shot at silverware. They are expected to face Bologna in the final, with Bologna holding a 3-0 lead over Empoli ahead of their second leg on Thursday. If confirmed, it will be Bologna’s first cup final since winning the tournament in 1974.

Conceição remained grounded despite the win:
“We’re happy to be in the final, but we haven’t won anything yet. Things aren’t suddenly perfect, just like they weren’t all bad before.”

For Inter, the defeat is a bitter blow. While still in the Champions League semifinals and tied atop Serie A with Napoli, the demanding run-in—with a clash against Roma this weekend and a semifinal first leg against Barcelona looming—could define their season.
