Announcing his retirement on social media on Monday (September 30), France vice-captain Griezmann wrote: 'It is with a heavy heart that I close this chapter of my life.'
With this announcement, Griezmann's 10-year journey to Jersey in France ended. He has 44 goals in 137 matches for the country. He has been a regular face in the XI since his debut in the national team in 2014.
Meanwhile, at the club level, Griezmann started his professional career in Real Sociedad jersey in 2009. After that, he also played in the two top clubs of La Liga, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Griezmann also reached a great milestone when he played the Madrid derby at the Wanda Metropolitano last night. The 33-year-old star played his 500th match in La Liga. Among them, he played 141 matches for Sociedad, 41 matches for Barcelona and 285 matches for Atlético over two periods. However, his team did not win the match to reach his milestone.
