Mohammedan commences the second round with a victory over the Wanderers.
Mohammedan's performance remained strong even during the halftime interval. Under the guidance of Coach Alfaz Ahmed, the team secured a 3-0 victory against Dhaka Wanderers in the opening match of the second round. The black and white squad commenced this season's league with an impressive 6-0 triumph over their opponents.
From the outset at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Comilla, Mohammedan aggressively attacked the Wanderers but had to wait until the 38th minute to find the back of the net. Mozaffar Mozaffarov demonstrated that patience pays off with a stunning free kick, leaving the opposing goalkeeper, Shakil Hossain, with no chance to intervene.
With no further goals scored, both teams proceeded to the halftime break. The Wanderers, eager to respond after the interval, created several opportunities; however, their attacking players failed to convert these chances. Instead, they conceded a second goal in the 81st minute, with substitute Rahim Uddin delivering a precise shot from within the penalty area.
In the final moments of the match, captain Suleman Diabate added a third goal for the team. This victory further solidified Mohammedan's position at the top of the league standings, as they now hold 27 points from 10 matches, boasting 9 wins. Their rivals, Abahani, trail in second place with 20 points from 19 matches.
In other matches, Police FC achieved a narrow 1-0 victory over Brothers Union in Mymensingh, with Danilo Quipapa netting the decisive goal. Additionally, Fortis triumphed over Rahmatganj with a score of 3-1 at the Bashundhara Kings Arena, where Gambian forward Pa Omar scored twice, and Valerie Risin contributed another goal, while Samuel Boateng managed to score for Rahmatganj.
