Rohit surpasses Sachin's world record
Indian cricketers have set several records in the Pakistan match. Virat Kohli has set a record for catching as well as the fastest to reach the milestone of 14,000 runs.
Like Virat Kohli, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has also set a record. Rohit has set a world record for the fastest to score 9,000 runs in ODI cricket as an opener.
Rohit has been a regular opener for India in the ODI format since the 2013 Champions Trophy. The 'Hitman' reached the milestone of 9,000 runs as an opener in his 181st innings of ODI cricket.
Hitman became the fastest batsman in the world to score 9,000 runs in ODIs as an opener against arch-rivals Pakistan in the fifth match of the Champions Trophy at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Sachin scored 9,000 runs as an opener in his 197th innings in ODIs. Rohit tops this list. He became a member of the 9,000-run club in the fewest innings as an opener in ODIs. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is in third position on this list. He scored 9,000 runs in 231 innings.
