Latham ruled out of Pakistan series
New Zealand are without regular captain Mitchell Santner and several key players due to the IPL. In his absence, Tom Latham was supposed to lead the team in the ODI series against Pakistan. However, he himself has been ruled out of the series due to injury.
Cricket New Zealand said that a delivery hit Latham's right hand while batting in practice. Later, an X-ray showed that he had a fracture in his bone, due to which he had to be plastered. He will need at least four weeks of rest and rehabilitation to recover.
New Zealand coach Gary Stead confirmed that Henry Nicholls will join the team in place of Latham. Current T20 captain Michael Bracewell will lead the team in the ODIs and Mitch Hay will take over as wicketkeeper.
