 Bodo/Glimt make history in Champions League last 16

On the night the Norwegian club made history, Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen also confirmed their place in the last 16. The small Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt created a big event in European football. The club made history. They advanced to the last 16 of the Champions League by eliminating Inter Milan.

Bodo/Glimt had one foot in the last 16 after the first leg. They completed the rest of the formalities last night. They defeated the hosts on Tuesday and painted the second leg in the color of victory.

They defeated Inter 3-1 at home in the first leg of the play-off, and now they won the return leg at San Siro 2-1. Bodo/Glimt advanced to the last 16 with a 5-2 aggregate score.

Bodo/Glimt are showing one surprise after another in their first season in Europe's top club competition. They defeated Manchester City and Atletico Madrid in the league stage.

Neither team scored a goal in the first half of this match. In the second half, Jens Peter Hauge stunned San Siro in the 52nd minute and gave Bodo/Glimt the lead. He scored a goal with a rebound from Ole Blomberg's shot.

Then, in the 72nd minute, Håkan Evjen made it 2-0. Bodo/Glimt led 5-1 on aggregate. However, in the 76th minute, Alessandro Bastoni scored a goal to make it 5-2.

Despite getting a goal, Inter were unable to turn around. As a result, last season's runners-up were eliminated from the playoffs. On the other hand, Bodo/Glimt wrote a fairy tale.

This is the first time a Norwegian club has reached this stage of European football since Rosenborg reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 1997.

Bodo are also the first team from outside Europe's top five leagues to win four consecutive matches in a top European competition since Ajax in the 1971-72 season.

Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen also secured their place in the last 16 on a night that saw the Norwegian club make history.
