Manuel Neuer, the captain and goalkeeper for Bayern Munich, has been sidelined for several weeks due to a calf injury.

During Saturday's 3-0 Bundesliga victory over Werder Bremen, Neuer, 39, suffered a minor tear in his left calf, Bayern announced on Sunday.

Neuer will be out "for the time being," according to the club, which probably means he won't play in the "der Klassiker" against Borussia Dortmund on February 28.

With 12 games left, Bayern leads the Bundesliga by six points over Dortmund.

The injury was sustained by Neuer during Saturday's first half. The 22-year-old Jonas Urbig, who can expect to make more appearances in the upcoming weeks, took his place for the second half.
