Real Madrid is relying on a team-building dinner, reportedly funded by the club's top players, to enhance their late-season chase for the La Liga and Champions League titles.


According to midfielder Dani Ceballos, Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé covered the expenses at a restaurant in Madrid on Tuesday. The total bill exceeded 1,000 euros ($1,100), as reported by Spanish media outlets.

Vinícius shared a photo of the entire team during the dinner, which took place in an upscale venue near the city center known as "Art Dining Club."

Fans gathered outside the restaurant in hopes of speaking with the players after the dinner, which extended well past midnight.

Coach Álvaro Arbeloa and his coaching staff were not present at the dinner, according to reports from Spanish media.

This display of solidarity occurred just one week before Madrid is set to compete against Benfica in the first leg of the Champions League knockout stage. The team had fallen out of the top eight that automatically qualified for the round of 16 following a 4-2 defeat to Benfica in the final match of the league phase.

Madrid experienced significant challenges at the end of the previous year, with reports indicating that some players were not aligned with coach Xabi Alonso, who was succeeded by Arbeloa last month.

While Madrid has shown improvement, under Arbeloa's leadership, they were eliminated by second-tier Albacete in the Copa del Rey round of 16 and lost to Benfica in the match that relegated them to the Champions League’s first knockout stage.

In La Liga, Madrid has achieved seven consecutive victories, placing them just one point behind leaders Barcelona. A win against Real Sociedad on Saturday would elevate Madrid to first place before Barcelona's match against Girona on Monday.

Eighth-placed Sociedad recently secured a 1-0 victory against their Basque Country rivals, Athletic Bilbao, in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals.
