Cristiano Ronaldo has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury, as announced by his club Al Nassr on Tuesday.
The five-time Ballon d’Or recipient sustained the injury during Saturday’s 3-1 victory against Al-Fayha.
Al Nassr did not disclose the duration of the absence for the 41-year-old star from Portugal.
"He has commenced a rehabilitation program and will be assessed on a daily basis," stated the Saudi Pro League club in an official announcement.
The severity of Ronaldo’s injury remains unclear. Al Nassr did not clarify whether it is a strain or a tear, and coach Jorge Jesus indicated after the match against Al-Fayha that it might be due to "muscle fatigue."
In images shared on Tuesday via Al Nassr’s social media platforms, Ronaldo was observed engaging in weight training at the team’s gym.
The five-time Champions League victor is gearing up to participate in his sixth World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada this summer.
