Real Madrid's title dream dealt a major blow after losing to 10-man Getafe

Nothing could wake up the silence that had gripped Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium after Martin Satriano's brilliant volley. In the end, Getafe gave Real Madrid a 1-0 defeat in La Liga even with a team of 10 men. And that was a huge blow to Real's title dreams.

Real had possession of the ball from the start of Monday night's match. They were also controlling the game. But they were not getting goals and wasted one opportunity after another.

In the 13th minute, Vinicius Junior got a great opportunity. He went ahead alone on a counterattack. But goalkeeper David Soria blocked it with his right foot. In the 24th minute, Soria saved again. Arda Gul shot past three defenders. Soria blocked it with one hand.

Real paid the price for one goal after another in the 39th minute, when Getafe scored against the run. Satriano received a half-cleared ball outside the box and volleyed it in. The ball went into the net. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could do nothing.

This was Satriano's seventh match since joining Olympique Lyonnais on loan in January. This goal was the game-changer.

The crowd booed before the break. Substitutions were made in the second half. However, the team's image did not change. Real attacked. But they could not break Getafe's five-man defense.

Tensions rose towards the end. Substitute Franco Mastantuono was sent off immediately. Adrian Lisso was also sent off. Real lost to Getafe at home for the first time in 18 years.

Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Eder Militao also missed out due to injuries. So Arbeloa made room for newcomers. 18-year-old midfielder Thiago Pitarch got his first chance in the starting eleven. However, no one could do justice to the coach's trust.

After this match, Barcelona's points are 64. Real's are 60. There are only 12 La Liga matches left.
