Case against Mashrafe for taking ownership of Sylhet in BPL
A case has been filed against the former captain of the national team, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, on the charge of forcibly taking ownership of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) team Sylhet Strikers.
The former owner of the franchise, Sarwar Chowdhury, filed the case as a plaintiff in the capital's Pallabi police station. Mashrafe has been made the number 1 accused in the case.
Sarwar Chowdhury claims that the ownership of Sylhet Strikers organization Future Sports Bangladesh Limited has been forcibly taken away from him. Helal bin Yusuf Shubhra, the co-owner of Sylhet Strikers, was holding a revolver at the head of Sarwar Chowdhury while sitting in Mashrafe's office.
Accused in the case respectively - Mashrafe bin Murtaza, Helal bin Yusuf Shubhra, Md. 8 people including Imam Hasan, KM Russell, Bablu and unknown.
The acquaintance of Sarwar, an expatriate businessman in the United States with Mashrafe, is through Helal bin Yusuf, the number two accused in the case. On the invitation of the two, Sarwar expressed interest in buying a team in the BPL. After that, Sarwar registered a joint stock company called 'Future Sports Bangladesh Limited'. He was the chairman with 60 percent shares. Imam Hasan, the third defendant in the case, became the managing director of the company with the remaining 40 percent shares.
After the escape of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5, another case was filed against former Awami League MP Mashrafe Bin Murtaza in Narail.
