Bayern apologise after fans display banner attacking PSG president

Bayern Munich has issued an apology to Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi following the display of a banner by the German club's supporters that personally targeted him during the Champions League match on Tuesday at the Allianz Arena. 

The banner raised questions regarding Al-Khelaifi's roles as a club owner, a member of the UEFA Executive Committee, the chairman of the European Club Association, and as the beIN chairman, labeling him as "plutocratic" and including an expletive. 

In a statement, Bayern expressed, "FC Bayern would like to apologise when its opponents and their representatives in its stadium feel personally attacked in this manner and tone, and are offended as a result." The club emphasized that the banners were not sanctioned by FC Bayern and do not represent its views, stating, "They are not in keeping with the good and long-standing relationship between the two clubs." Furthermore, Bayern noted that the tone of the banners contradicts the club's values and the respectful rapport it maintains with its international partners.

On the field, Bayern secured a 1-0 victory over PSG, with Kim Min-jae scoring the decisive goal, while the French team faced a disadvantage after Ousmane Dembele was sent off shortly before the 60-minute mark.
