Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga sustained an injury and was substituted during the second half of his team's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The French international experienced a sudden pull as he pursued the ball, subsequently collapsing to the ground while grasping the back of his left leg, indicating a potential hamstring injury.

He received brief medical attention from Madrid's staff before the decision was made to replace him, leading to Dani Ceballos entering the match in the 57th minute at Anfield.

Although Camavinga managed to walk off the pitch, he exhibited a noticeable limp as he proceeded to the locker room.

The 22-year-old had previously dealt with knee injuries last season, which sidelined him for an extended duration.

This defeat places Madrid in a precarious position regarding their chances of advancing beyond the initial phase of the revamped Champions League.

The reigning champions currently sit in 24th place in the standings, which is the final playoff position for the round of 16, with the top eight teams qualifying automatically.
