Woods expresses disappointment as he will not participate in the Hero World Challenge.
Tiger Woods has expressed his "disappointment" regarding his inability to participate in next month's Hero World Challenge, which will take place in Albany, Bahamas.
As the host of this unofficial tournament, which features 20 of the world's elite players, Woods was anticipated to take one of the exemption spots for the event commencing on December 5.
The 48-year-old American did not provide a specific reason for his absence, although he has maintained a limited competitive schedule over the years due to various injuries.
Woods has not competed since he failed to make the cut at The Open in July, prior to undergoing back surgery in September.
"I am disappointed that I will not be able to compete this year, but I always look forward to being the tournament host," Woods stated on X.
After an eight-month hiatus due to injury, Woods returned to play in the tournament last year, finishing in 18th place.
He also mentioned that the three exemption spots for this year's event will be filled by Americans Justin Thomas and Nick Dunlap, along with Australian Jason Day.
