Emi Martinez commenced the evening by entering the field alongside his children, proudly displaying a pair of trophies awarded to him as the world's best goalkeeper for the past two years.

The Argentine international shone during the 0-0 stalemate between his Aston Villa squad and Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday, as he deftly retrieved the ball from behind him, preventing it from crossing the goal line and denying Francisco Conceição what could have been a decisive goal.

Replays revealed that the ball was nearly entirely over the line before Martinez managed to clear it, prompting immediate congratulations from his teammates.

While no save by Martinez will surpass the one he executed for Argentina in the dying moments of extra time during the 2022 World Cup final, where he thwarted France's Randal Kolo Muani and preserved Lionel Messi's aspiration of securing soccer's most prestigious trophy, this save certainly came close.

It was particularly fitting that he delivered this extraordinary save against Juventus on the same night he showcased the two Yashin Trophies he received at the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony over the past two years, the latest of which was awarded last month.
