Mbappe needs ‘support’ Real Madrid coach Ancelotti says after 2-0 loss to Liverpool

Kylian Mbappe anticipated that his transfer to Real Madrid would finally bring an end to his pursuit of a Champions League title. However, following a 2-0 loss to Liverpool on Wednesday, the reigning champions find themselves at risk of being eliminated from the prestigious tournament at the group stage, and are now engaged in a struggle to secure a place in the next round.

Should Madrid face an early exit, Mbappe may reflect on a challenging evening at Anfield, where he was outperformed by a young defender and subsequently failed to convert a penalty that could have equalized the match.

Madrid's coach, Carlo Ancelotti, remarked afterward that the star forward is experiencing a "difficult moment," just months after joining the record 15-time European champions. 

"We must provide him with our support and affection, and he will soon recover," Ancelotti stated, responding to numerous inquiries from Spanish journalists regarding Mbappe's performance. "It may be a matter of lacking confidence. At times, when the game is not unfolding as expected, the best approach is to simplify things. Do not overcomplicate matters.

"He is currently navigating through this phase. Such moments are part of the game. We should not hold him accountable for missing a penalty. Penalties are missed by players. We must not place excessive blame on him for that."
