Jalen Brunson contributed nine of his season-high 55 points during overtime, leading the visiting New York Knicks to a 136-132 victory over the Washington Wizards on Saturday, thereby extending their winning streak to a season-best seven games. In overtime, Brunson successfully converted two free throws, giving the Knicks a 134-131 lead with just 4.2 seconds remaining. Malcolm Brogdon responded by making one of two free throws for the Wizards, but Josh Hart's subsequent two free throws secured the win for New York. Karl-Anthony Towns added a notable 30 points and 14 rebounds for the Knicks, who overcame an eight-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Mikal Bridges contributed 21 points, while Hart finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.

The Wizards held a 119-114 lead with 1:07 left in regulation, but Brunson's three-point play narrowed the gap. Following missed field-goal attempts by Washington, Brunson's floater tied the game at 119 with 11.8 seconds to go. The game proceeded to overtime after Bilal Coulibaly's jumper failed to connect on Washington's final possession, and Towns missed a buzzer-beater attempt.

Justin Champagnie led the Wizards with a career-high 31 points and 10 rebounds, marking his second career double-double. Brogdon added 22 points, Coulibaly scored 18, Carlton Carrington contributed 17, and Kyshawn George finished with 13 points. The Knicks have now won 17 of their last 21 games overall, including 11 of 13 this month. They improved to 12-6 in away games, achieving seven consecutive road victories.

In the opening quarter, Washington had eight players score, ending the period with a slight 33-32 lead. The teams were tied at 60 at halftime after a competitive second quarter that saw six ties and 14 lead changes. Five Wizards players scored at least seven points in the first half, while Towns led the Knicks with 16 points. Washington maintained a 98-90 advantage at the end of the third quarter, having scored 38 points on an impressive 71.4 percent shooting, with Brunson accounting for 19 of the Knicks' 30 points in that period.The Knicks tallied eight of the initial ten points in the fourth quarter, taking a lead of 103-102 following Towns' three-pointer with 7:54 left on the clock.
