Biman secures the championship title in the Victory Day hockey tournament.

Field hockey is a fast-paced and exciting game. It is a game where goals can be scored and the scenario can change even a second before the end of the game. Such a picture was seen on Monday. Hockey fans enjoyed a lively hockey match after a long time.

Bangladesh Air Force won the Paragon Group Victory Day Hockey title. They defeated Bangladesh Navy 5-4 in a fiercely contested final held at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka on Monday to become champions for the first time.

The hero of Bangladesh Air Force's victory was the smart forward Rakibul Hasan. His hat-trick made the difference between victory and defeat. However, young winger Obaidul Hasan Joy was the game changer for the Air Force. His excellent stick work and innovative style throughout the match took the Air Force to the title. Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, President of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation and Chief of Air Staff, distributed the prizes as the chief guest.

The champion Biman received Tk 1 lakh and the runner-up Navy received Tk 50,000. Federation General Secretary Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Riazul Hasan, representatives of the Paragon Group and other officials of the federation were present at the time.

Navy defender Farhad Ahmed Shitul received a red card in the 51st minute for hitting the opponent's midfielder Tasin Ali off the ball. Navy relied on Ashraful Islam's drag and flick, keeping this in mind, the Air Force defense was careful from the beginning not to give away penalty corners. Keeping Navy captain Russell Mahmud Jimmy in the midst of the tough marking of the Air Force defenders was also another strategy for the Air Force's success.
