Barisal was unable to withstand the challenge posed by Rangpur.

Fortune Barisal has struggled to capitalize on the potential of their team, which resembles that of the national squad. In their opening match, Mahmudullah Riyad played a crucial role in their recovery from a precarious situation, but this time, they were unable to find a similar rescue. The reigning champions failed to complete their innings, falling short of the full 20 overs.

In the second match of the day during the BPL on Thursday, January 2, Fortune Barisal faced off against Rangpur Riders. Batting first, Tamim Iqbal's team was dismissed for a total of 124 runs in just 18.2 overs, with Tamim contributing the highest score of 28 runs.

Barisal's opening pair initially provided a solid start, as Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Tamim Iqbal accumulated 25 runs within the first three overs. However, a sudden downturn ensued when Shanto was dismissed by Sheikh Mehedi for 9 runs.

Subsequently, Aqib Javed brought Tawhid Hridoy to the crease, who managed only 4 runs. In the following over, Tamim Iqbal was bowled out by Nahid Rana. Kyle Meyers attempted to stabilize the innings, forming a 31-run partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim.

Unfortunately, Barisal faced renewed pressure as both batters fell within the span of just three deliveries, with Mushfiqur scoring 15 runs and Meyers contributing 13. The two standout players from the previous match, Fahim Ashraf and Mahmudullah Riyad, were unable to make a significant impact either.

Fahim was dismissed for a mere 1 run, while Riyad managed only 10 runs, leaving the team at 87. Mohammad Nabi's contribution of 21 runs was essential in pushing Barisal past the three-figure mark. Khushdil claimed 3 wickets, while Iftekhar and Nahid Rana each took 2 wickets.
