MA Aziz Stadium to be leased to BFF for 25 years

The National Sports Council (NSC) has allocated the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) for 25 years.

The council made the announcement in a formal announcement on Thursday (January 2).

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) had sought a 25-year lease of the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong to build an international-standard football complex. After this application, the Youth and Sports Advisor had said a few days ago that the stadium was being allocated to football for 10 years. However, the BFF had been trying to get the stadium for 25 years only. Finally, the stadium owner, the National Sports Council, has taken the final decision to lease the MA Aziz Stadium to the BFF for 25 years.

In an order signed by the Director (Development and Planning) of the National Sports Council, Mahbub Morshed Sohel, the BFF was given 12 conditions along with the 25-year lease.

Since BFF got the stadium on paper, it will now be able to submit the necessary requirements to FIFA for the construction of the complex. If the stadium was not allocated for at least 20 years, FIFA funding would not have been available. Now BFF got the stadium for 25 years as per their demand.

There is a cricket pitch in the middle of the field of MA Aziz Stadium. At one time, football was quite popular here. Football used to share this venue with cricket, which is one of the oldest in the country. Now BFF will use this stadium exclusively. They will be able to arrange it for football in their own way. There is no possibility of cricket happening here for the next 25 years.
