Manchester City has gained momentum with consecutive victories in the Premier League, while both Arsenal and Chelsea have experienced setbacks.
Erling Haaland and Manchester City may be on the verge of a turnaround following the team's most challenging period under Pep Guardiola. Haaland netted two goals in a 4-1 victory against West Ham on Saturday, marking City's first consecutive wins in the Premier League since late October, when an unexpected six-week slump began. During that difficult stretch, the reigning champions participated in nine league matches, securing only one victory, which resulted in their exit from the Champions League qualification positions and raised concerns regarding Guardiola's willingness to undertake a rebuilding process. Now, City can look forward to improved prospects, particularly after gaining ground on second-placed Arsenal and fourth-placed Chelsea, both of whom dropped points in draws against Brighton and Crystal Palace, respectively, on Saturday. Nevertheless, Guardiola remained cautious in his assessment. “I’m very pleased for the result,” he stated, “but you cannot ask me if the old City is back. If you saw the game, we are not.” While the 2-0 victory at Leicester the previous weekend was less than convincing, the performance against West Ham showed more promise, particularly in the attacking department, with Haaland appearing in fine form. The Norwegian striker scored with a header from Savinho’s cross to make it 2-0 in the 42nd minute and later chipped the goalkeeper for the third goal in the 55th minute after receiving another pass from Savinho.
