Who would Sourav Ganguly play if Rahul or Pant were the coach?

A batsman like Rishabh Pant is a great asset for any team in the middle order. This wicketkeeper-batsman can single-handedly turn the tide of a match. However, India coach Gautam Gambhir has kept Pant in the Champions Trophy. Lokesh Rahul is being played. Many people have questions about this. This time, former captain and board president Sourav Ganguly was asked to answer that question.

Sourav watched Pant closely while working as a mentor for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He has always said about Pant that Pant is a match winner. An asset to any team. However, he is not being played. What is Sourav's comment on this?

Sourav said, 'India is a very strong team. Especially in batting. Everyone in the team can play. Rishabh Pant is good. KL Rahul is also good. Rahul's record in ODI cricket is extraordinary. That is why Gautam Gambhir may be playing Rahul. Actually, there is little difference between the two. It is very difficult to choose one.'

When asked who would he play in the playing XI if he were the coach of the Indian team, Sourav said, 'The coach who has him doesn't matter. I am not a coach, I don't think. I watch the game. Gautam Gambhir is playing whoever he thinks is right. Both are equally good.'

Sourav then added, 'Apart from Rahul and Pant, there is Sanju Samson. There is Abhishek Sharma. There is Suryakumar Yadav. India has a lot of talent. Whoever is picked will perform. India recently defeated England 4-1 in the T20 series, apart from Virat, Rohit, Shubman. They won the T20 series 3-0. India has a lot of talent in white-ball cricket. Everyone can play. The way left-handed Abhishek Sharma has played, there is no reason for him not to play ODIs. Whoever the selectors pick will play well.'
