Shad Nadeem Declines Neeraj Chopra’s Invitation for Bengaluru Javelin Event

Pakistan’s Olympic medalist Arshad Nadeem has officially declined Indian javelin ace Neeraj Chopra’s invitation to participate in the Bengaluru Classic Throwing Championship, scheduled for May 24.

According to sources, Nadeem expressed his gratitude in a formal response to Chopra but cited prior commitments and a packed training schedule as reasons for his unavailability.
“The training and competition calendar for the year has already been finalized, leaving no space for additional events,” Nadeem reportedly stated, while wishing success for the Bengaluru meet.

Chopra had extended a personal invitation to Nadeem for the inaugural event, named in his honor. Despite the absence of the Pakistani star, the competition is expected to feature several world-class javelin throwers.

Nadeem is preparing to represent Pakistan at the Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea, starting May 27. He is set to depart in the third week of May to acclimatize ahead of the continental meet.

Notably, Nadeem and Chopra have previously shared the podium at major global events, including the World Athletics Championships, and have consistently expressed mutual respect.
