Multan Sultans snap losing streak with emphatic high-scoring victory over Lahore Qalandars.

Yasir Khan’s Fireworks and Ubaid Shah’s Heroics Seal First Win for Multan Sultans

Multan Sultans ended their winless run in style as Yasir Khan's explosive innings and Ubaid Shah’s three-wicket haul powered them to a 33-run victory over Lahore Qalandars in the HBL Pakistan Super League clash on Tuesday.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Sultans got off to a flying start. Yasir Khan blazed his way to a stunning 87 off just 44 balls, laced with six boundaries and six towering sixes. His early assault dismantled Lahore’s bowling attack, setting the foundation for a massive total.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan added a brisk 32 off 17 deliveries before falling to Asif Afridi, while Usman Khan contributed a quick 39 off 24. Though the Qalandars briefly regained some control in the middle overs—thanks to Rishad Hossain’s two crucial wickets—Multan surged again at the death.

Veteran all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed played a vital role, finishing with an unbeaten 40 off just 18 balls, hammering three fours and three sixes. Multan Sultans posted a formidable total of 228/5 in their 20 overs.

In response, Lahore Qalandars started with intent. Fakhar Zaman smashed a rapid 32 off 14 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes to give the chase early momentum. But once he departed in the sixth over, caught by Joshua Little, the innings began to unravel.

Mohammad Naeem struggled once again, falling for 11 off 11 to Michael Bracewell, who also dismissed Abdullah Shafique (18 off 15), caught behind. The Qalandars slipped further into trouble as Daryl Mitchell (19) and Rishad Hossain (2) fell cheaply, leaving them wobbling at 111/5.

A resilient partnership between Sam Billings and Sikandar Raza revived Lahore’s hopes. Billings struck 43 off 23 balls, including two fours and four sixes, while Raza remained unbeaten on 50 off 27 deliveries. Their 63-run stand offered a late glimmer of hope.

However, the lower order couldn’t keep the momentum going. Shaheen Shah Afridi fell for 2, and Asif Afridi managed just 4 as the Qalandars closed their innings at 195/9, falling 33 runs short.

Ubaid Shah was the pick of the bowlers for Multan, claiming 3 wickets and tightening the screws at crucial moments. Bracewell chipped in with two important wickets, while Usama Mir, David Willey, and Joshua Little each took one.

With this win, Multan Sultans finally opened their account in PSL 2025, bringing an end to their losing streak and igniting hopes of a turnaround in the season.
