Mumbai Indians achieved a convincing 9-wicket victory over their long-time rivals, Chennai Super Kings, at home, successfully avenging their earlier defeat to the five-time champions at Wankhede Stadium.

The match was highlighted by a remarkable partnership of 113 runs between Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, which propelled the team to victory with 26 balls remaining. Rohit Sharma, returning to form, scored 76 runs, while Suryakumar dazzled the audience with his dynamic batting, contributing a well-crafted fifty and finishing the chase with two sixes.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings set a challenging target of 176 runs for Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2025 encounter at the renowned Wankhede Stadium. Making his debut, young talent Ayush Mhatre made an immediate impression for CSK, scoring a brisk 32 runs off just 15 balls.

CSK's innings began on a shaky note as opener Rachin Ravindra was dismissed early, caught behind off Ashwani Kumar for a mere 5 runs during the powerplay. Mhatre then entered the fray, displaying aggressive intent with 4 boundaries and 2 impressive sixes, including a powerful pull shot over backward square leg. His innings concluded when he was caught at long on off Deepak Chahar’s delivery.

After a steady contribution of 19 runs from Shaik Rasheed, the partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube proved crucial in stabilizing CSK’s innings. The pair added 79 runs for the fifth wicket, bringing the score to 142/4 by the 17th over. Both Jadeja and Dube reached half-centuries, while Dhoni contributed 4 runs. Jadeja and Overton helped CSK reach a total of 176 runs by the end of their 20 overs.
