Philippines referee did not give Bangladesh a 'definite penalty'

In the third minute of added time, Bangladesh's Faisal Ahmed Fahim entered the box from the left edge with a great effort on his foot. Singapore's Irfan Najib made a sliding tackle from behind to stop him. But despite the tackle, the ball did not reach him. On the contrary, Fahim clearly fell under his foot. But even then, Philippine referee Clifford Dayfuat did not blow the penalty whistle. He gave Bangladesh a corner because the ball crossed the line.
However, it became clear on TV replays that his decision was completely wrong. Bangladesh missed a golden opportunity to equalize because there was no confirmed penalty. After Rakib's goal in the 67th minute of the second half, Bangladesh set up an attack.

In particular, substitutes Fahim-Al Amin spread panic in the Singapore box. Hamza Chowdhury also joined them.

Javier Cabrera's men tried hard to get back into the game by creating several goal opportunities with one set piece after another and single efforts. Under pressure, Singapore's Nazir made a dangerous tackle. If the referee had made the right decision there, Bangladesh would have definitely got a lifeline to get back into the match.

However, in the end, that did not happen. Meanwhile, despite getting many chances in the last 20-25 minutes of the match, the poor finishing of Bangladesh's forwards was responsible for Singapore's inability to score. Cabrera will definitely have to pay extra attention to improving the team's finishing before the next match against Hong Kong in the Asian Cup qualifiers.
