Arsenal experience a setback in their title pursuit against a motivated United, while Villa narrows the distance.

Arsenal will not be pressing the panic button; however, the anxiety surrounding the Premier League title is starting to emerge in north London. A 3-2 home loss to Manchester United on Sunday has left the door slightly open for their competitors.

Remarkable second-half goals from Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha secured United their first Premier League victory at Arsenal since 2017, thereby loosening Arsenal's hold on the top position. Rather than extending their seven-point advantage, Arsenal's initial home defeat of the season across all competitions has resulted in a four-point lead over Manchester City and Aston Villa. City returned to winning form by defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, while Villa achieved a 2-0 victory against Newcastle United on Sunday, just before Arsenal's match commenced at The Emirates Stadium.

A spectacular first-half goal from Emiliano Buendia, along with a late strike from Ollie Watkins, ensured Villa secured the points, bouncing back strongly from their home defeat to Everton last week.

Currently, Arsenal is on a three-match winless streak in the league, holding 50 points from 23 matches, while City and Villa have 46 points each. Meanwhile, a revitalized United sits in fourth place with 38 points. Chelsea follows in fifth with 37 points after a 3-1 win at Crystal Palace, where Estevao, Joao Pedro, and Enzo Fernandez found the net. Chris Richards managed to score a consolation goal for the hosts, who also saw Adam Wharton receive a red card. Nottingham Forest has moved five points clear of the relegation zone following a 2-0 victory at Brentford.

Arsenal is pursuing their first title since 2004 and could have established a significant lead, given the recent struggles of City and Villa. However, the defeat on Sunday, coming after two consecutive 0-0 draws, has heightened the sense of anxiety.

"We must acknowledge Manchester United's performance. We conceded a goal that was both unusual and painful, followed by two exceptional moments resulting in incredible goals. We were not at our best and ultimately paid the price," stated Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

A SIGNIFICANT ERROR

Arsenal appeared to be in control when Lisandro Martinez's own goal put them ahead in the 29th minute. However, a significant error by Martin Zubimendi in the 37th minute allowed United to equalize through Bryan Mbeumo.

Dorgu unleashed a volley in the 50th minute, causing United's confidence to soar until substitute Mikel Merino equalized for the hosts from a corner late in the match.

United, however, were not done yet, as substitute Cunha made a forward run before curling a right-footed shot from 25 meters past David Raya, igniting wild celebrations among the visiting fans.

A mere point from their last two league matches had hindered Villa's momentum, but they found their rhythm again against a lackluster Newcastle side.

Buendia initiated the scoring in the 19th minute with a dipping shot that zipped past Nick Pope.

Newcastle pressed on in search of an equalizer, but it was Watkins who had the final say for Villa, sneaking in at the far post to head the ball home in the 88th minute, securing the victory.

After narrowly defeating Turkish team Fenerbahce 1-0 on Thursday in the Europa League, Villa had limited time to prepare for the Newcastle match but responded admirably.

"It is a challenging schedule for us, but it is what we aspire to do: participate in European competitions and compete for positions in the Premier League. Therefore, we must adapt, fight, play, recover, and continue," Buendia remarked.

Forest faced pressure after third-from-bottom West Ham United closed the gap to two points with a win against Sunderland on Saturday.

Nevertheless, they bounced back with a victory at Brentford, who suffered only their second home defeat of the season in the league. Goals from Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi were crucial for Forest, who leveled on points with 16th-placed Leeds United.
