Bangladesh got off to a great start in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup qualifiers. The Tigresses defeated the United States by 21 runs in their first Group 'B' match at the Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Sharmin Akhtar was the hero of the match with the bat. She played an innings of 63 runs off 39 balls. This was her first fifty in women's T20 international cricket. This innings included eight fours and a six. Sobhana Mostari played an important role along with Sharmin. She scored 32 runs off 29 balls.
Batting first, Bangladesh scored 159 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs after losing the toss. Mahi Madhavan did well with the ball for the United States. She took three wickets. Isani Bagela took two wickets.
