Farhan tops the World Cup runs

Pakistan did not have much to say about the entire innings. Nevertheless, the team batted first and scored 160-plus runs with effective innings by Sahibzada Farhan, Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan. Especially Farhan's half-century gave Pakistan the capital to fight. Pakistan, who batted first, scored 164 runs for 9 wickets in the Super Eight of the T20 World Cup held in Pallekele on Tuesday. England had scored 17 runs for 2 wickets in 2.3 overs till the writing of this report.

The teams won the toss and decided to bat in the first five matches at the Pallekele Stadium. The match against England yesterday was important for Pakistan as the match against New Zealand was abandoned due to rain. To stop the English, they need to score a big score. Pakistan went in with that in mind. But before they could create a storm with the bat, Saim Ayub returned to the dressing room. The first ball of the second over bowled by Jofra Archer was short. Before being caught by Jacob Bethell in the Deep Square League, the Pakistani opener scored 7 runs off 7 balls with the help of a boundary. Pakistan scored 46 runs after losing 2 wickets in the first power play. Where no sixes were hit. Farhan and Babar Azam kept batting slowly where the focus should have been on increasing the run rate. 8-11 – Pakistan did not get a boundary in these four overs. They were unable to play Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson and Overchun. At one point, Sahibzada Farhan had 28 runs off 19 balls. He too could not hit any boundaries during this period. Babar Azam was also batting slowly. Babar is already being criticized for not batting like in T20s. So, to increase the run rate, Babar got bowled. 25 runs came from his bat in 24 balls courtesy of 2 boundaries.

After Babar was dismissed, Farhan and Fakhar Zaman batted aggressively. They especially played Will Jacks, the hero of England's victory against Sri Lanka, well today. Fakhar and Farhan hit sixes in the 14th over of the innings. Pakistan scored 16 runs from that over. Farhan reached his 10th half-century in his T20 career with a single in this over. After scoring a fifty, the batsman focused on increasing the run rate. He hit two consecutive sixes and a four off the over bowled in the 16th over. Farhan fell into the trap of leg before four on the next ball. Even after taking a review, it was of no use. He was stopped for 63 runs off 45 balls. His innings included 7 fours and 2 sixes. His personal highest score of 283 runs in this T20 World Cup till yesterday. Fakhar was caught by Liam Dawson at backward square leg off Adil Rashid in the next over while trying to hit a six. He scored 25 runs off 16 balls. After Farhan and Fakhar were dismissed, no Pakistani batsman could settle down at the wicket. Dawson, who came to bowl the 18th over of the innings, dismissed Usman Khan and Mohammad Nawaz in two consecutive balls to slow down the pace of the runs. Pakistan scored 52 runs in the last five overs. However, they lost 6 wickets. Shadab Khan's innings of 23 runs off 11 balls was effective in taking 10 runs per over. And Pakistan was able to score runs due to England's poor fielding. Jacob Bethell gave away two fours. Dawson took 3 wickets for England.
