Windies' big win in a match that set multiple records

West Indies set several records in the Super Eight match of the T20 World Cup against Zimbabwe. In the record-breaking match, the Windies defeated Zimbabwe by a huge margin of 107 runs.


On Monday, the West Indies, after losing the toss at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India, batted first and scored a record 254 runs for 6 wickets. This is the highest score recorded in the current edition of the T20 World Cup.

In the history of the T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka had previously made a record 260/6 against Kenya in the first edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007. That record is still intact after 19 years.

Today, for the West Indies, Simran Hetmyer scored a team-high 85 runs in just 34 balls with the help of 7 fours and 7 sixes. This is the highest score in his 80th T20 career.

Rovman Powell scored the second highest 59 runs in 35 balls with 4 fours and a six. Coming out to bat towards the end of the innings, Sherefani Rutherford scored an unbeaten 33 off just 13 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes.

Zimbabwe were bowled out for 147 in 17.4 overs after a poor batting performance. Brad Evans top-scored for Zimbabwe with 43. Dion Myers made 28. Gudakesh Moti took 4 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs for the West Indies. Akil Hossain took 3 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs.
