Butler impressed by his players' performance, Chinese coach surprised to see Mili in the post

The Bangladesh women's football team made its Asian Cup debut. The Bengal girls lost 2-0 to defending champions China. Despite losing, Bangladesh put up a great fight throughout the match. Coach Peter Butler was impressed by the fighting performance of his players against the superpower China.

On the other hand, China coach Ante Milicic is happy to start the tournament with a win. Although he was a little dissatisfied with not being able to increase the goal difference, he praised the Bangladesh team. The Chinese coach was especially surprised to see Mili Akhter in the goal post instead of Rupna Chakma. Praising Mili, he said, "I was surprised to see goalkeeper Mili in the XI. But she also played very well."

At the post-match press conference, Ante Milicic said, "There was no pressure on Bangladesh, they played freely. In the first match of the tournament, we scored 2 goals and did not concede any goals; we are satisfied with that. It could have happened in the first match.’

On the other hand, Peter Butler is happy with the performance of his students. He said, ‘China is one of the best teams in Asia, probably the best of the best and the current champions. They won, I congratulate them. Before the match, I told the girls to give their best and prove their capabilities.’

Regarding the style of play, the Bangladesh coach said, ‘We are not here just to handle the defense. I do not coach that way and I did not want my team to play that way. The girls have made the country’s name shine, kept the jersey’s quality. This shows how far we have come.’

Regarding the selection of Mili in the XI in place of Rupana Chakma, Butler said, ‘Mili was extraordinary today. I wanted to bring about a change and I am not afraid to make such a decision. I am happy that we were not disrespected.’

He said, ‘I feel really fortunate to be the coach of these girls. This tournament will serve as an opportunity for the girls to prove themselves and help them give a better life in the future. "We have come here after going through many ups and downs. We have to get back up and move forward."
