Iran on the verge of boycotting the World Cup in the United States

FIFA said on Saturday that it is monitoring the situation in the region. Iran may boycott the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the United States. The president of the country's football federation said that he is not sure whether the national team will be able to play World Cup matches in the United States after the sudden bombing by the United States and Israel.

He said that we cannot be expected to be optimistic about the World Cup after this attack.

Amidst the exchange of attacks between Iran and Israel, Iranian Football Federation President Mehdi Taj told sports portal Varzesh3.

US-Israeli attacks continued in Iran for the second day on Sunday. The assassination of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has created uncertainty about the future of the Islamic Republic and increased the risk of regional instability.

Iran is in Group 'G' at the World Cup. Iran is scheduled to play New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 15 and Belgium on June 21. Iran is then scheduled to face Egypt in Seattle on June 26.

Earlier, Iranian fans were banned from entering the United States in the first phase of the travel ban announced by the Donald Trump administration.
